Xiamen Commerce Bureau holds 2024 Mid-Year Commerce Work Conference

On July 21, the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce held the 2024 Mid-year Commerce Work Conference, aiming to promote the high-quality development of commerce in Xiamen.

Chen Haoying, director of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, presided over the meeting, conveying the guiding principles of the mid-year commerce work conference of the Fujian Provincial Department of Commerce and making work arrangements. Chen Min, secretary of the Party group of the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, conveyed the guiding principles from the third plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

During the conference, it was pointed out that since the beginning of this year, the overall implementation of national and provincial commerce work conferences and various decisions and deployments of the municipal Party committee and government have been thoroughly carried out. 

By overcoming various challenges and actively making efforts in structural adjustment, quality improvement, and efficiency enhancement, significant progress has been made in reform and innovation. The commercial economy is gradually recovering and improving, with all work steadily advancing.

Chen Haoying stated that 2024 is more than half way over, and it is crucial for everyone in the bureau to study and implement the guiding principles from the session. It is essential to effectively promote qualitative improvement and reasonable growth in the commercial economy, striving to contribute more commercial strength to the overall economic development of the province and the city.

He said that the bureau must continuously enhance commercial development and ensure the stable operation of the commercial economy through reform. It is essential to firmly maintain the foundation of foreign trade while effectively promoting the recovery of bulk commodities and consumer markets. Efforts should be made to improve the effectiveness of investment promotion, boost the MICE industry, continuously enhance the business environment at ports, and reliably ensure the security of supply.

The bureau is committed to goal-oriented and problem-oriented approaches, closely monitoring the growth rates at both national and provincial levels while striving to bridge the gap between Xiamen and other regions.

Chen Min emphasized that all members must effectively align their thinking and actions with the guiding principles from the session. It is essential to have a thorough understanding of the practical requirements for further deepening reform comprehensively to advance Chinese modernization, and to promote the implementation of the guiding principles from the session in the field of commerce in Xiamen through concrete actions.

She expressed that all members must understand the severe challenges facing the development of commerce and the economy. In the second half of the year, everyone should accurately analyze the development trends of the next phase, conduct more grassroots investigations and visit more enterprises to formulate precise strategies, promptly addressing their difficulties.

The bureau must strengthen unity and cooperation to fulfill all work tasks, ensuring rigorous implementation, optimizing work mechanisms, increasing efficiency, and fostering team development.
