Xiamen's exhibition industry sees strong growth in Q1

A series of high-quality exhibitions held in Xiamen have injected vitality into the city's economy, driving industrial development and upgrades and accelerating the cultivation and formation of new quality productive forces.

The latest statistical data shows that in the first quarter (Q1) of this year, Xiamen hosted exhibitions with a total exhibition area of 361,400 square meters, a year-on-year increase of 271.6 percent. The economic benefits of the exhibition industry reached 5.38 billion yuan ($742 million), a year-on-year increase of 70.28 percent.

From January to March, Xiamen hosted 28 exhibition events. Among them, the 24th Xiamen International Stone Fair covered an exhibition area of 191,000 square meters, a 10-percent increase compared to 2019 and a record high.

In Q1, Xiamen also hosted 947 conferences with a total of 187,600 attendees.

The exhibitions have brought together people, logistics, information flow, and capital flow, injecting strong momentum into the high-quality development of the city. 

The 2024 China Feed Industry Expo, held at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center, attracted over 650 domestic and foreign enterprises.

Xiamen continues to attract exhibitions and promote the hosting of the China National Pharmaceutical Machinery Exposition in the city. 

Negotiations have also led to the introduction of projects such as the Live E-commerce Expo, the Food and Drinks Fair, and the New Energy Vehicle Expo, which will be held in Xiamen this year.

This year, Xiamen will also host the selection of the top 10 brand exhibitions in the city and strive to achieve an exhibition area of three million square meters.
