Metaverse industry conference unveils in Xiamen
The Asian Metaverse Industry Conference commenced at Royal Victoria Hotel in Xiamen on May 25.
Featuring experts, scholars, entrepreneurs and overseas guests from the Asian Virtual Characters Association, the event was focused on exploring new metaverse applications in animation and driving discussions about the latest industry developments.
Themed "Digital New Era, Intelligent New Universe", the two-day conference featured an opening ceremony, industry development and investment forums, metaverse project roadshows, and virtual character interaction exhibitions.
The 48-hour International Virtual Production Contest was launched during the conference, with the online competition for participants around the globe commencing on May 27.
In partnership with the Xiamen Film and Television Shooting Base, and the China (Xiamen) Intelligent Audio-Visual Industry Base, the Asian Virtual Characters Association unveiled its Xiamen Training Base at the conference. This marked the beginning of a long-term collaboration between the organizations.
Guest speakers from Japan and Spain then shared about their experiences and insights into augmented and virtual reality metaverse technologies. They also spoke about the applications of these technologies in domains such as virtual characters, animation, and film.

As a vice-provincial city independently listed on the State development plan, it has provincial-level authority in economic administration and local legislative power. In 2010, the Xiamen SEZ was expanded to cover the entire municipality. Today, Xiamen is a modern and international port city.
