The Silk Road Maritime (SRM) Alliance signed a cooperation agreement with Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority online recently to establish long-term strategic cooperation in improving ports and shipping services, promoting the SRM's service standards, facilitating data resources exchanges and talent cultivation, and to contribute to the development of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

SRM Alliance was established in December 2018 and is China's first BRI international comprehemsive logistics service platform focusing on shipping.

Ghana Ports and Harbors Authority is the alliance's first African partner. To date, the alliance has attracted 261 members at home and abroad.

Building the SRM Alliance in Xiamen is a crucial move for Fujian province to construct the core area of the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, build a logistics channel between the Yangtze River Delta region and the Pearl River Delta region, and form a highly efficient and stable marine logistics service ecosystem.

In March 2021, SRM was included in the country's 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) and long-range objectives through 2035, marking its integration into the national development strategies.
