Xiamen tops online retail sales in Fujian during shopping festival

Statistics showed that during the 618 shopping festival, which was from June 1 to 20, Xiamen in Fujian province generated 17.69 billion yuan ($2.64 billion) in online retail sales, an increase of 12.3 percent year-on-year, which was 6.6 percentage points and 3.6 percentage points higher than the provincial and national averages, respectively.

Of which, the online retail sales of physical goods reached 16.5 billion yuan, an increase of 14.5 percent year-on-year.

Xiamen was ranked first in Fujian province and 13th nationwide in terms of online retail sales volume.

During the same time period, Xiamen's top three commodities were textiles such as clothing, hats and shoes, daily necessities, as well as household appliances and audio-visual equipment, which accounted for 51 percent, 15.8 percent, and 5.7 percent, respectively.

The online retail sales of Xiamen's agricultural products hit 860 million yuan, of which, the sales of tea accounted 40.6 percent, followed by health food and snacks at 36.2 percent and 6.5 percent, respectively.

During this year's 618 shopping festival, Xiamen's consumption presented a high-quality, green, intelligent, and self-pleasing trend.
