Development foundation:

In 2018, Xiamen held a total of 229 exhibitions, with a total exhibition area of 2.38 million square meters, up 8.6 percent year-on-year. The hotels and conference centers in the city hosted 9,262 commercial meetings with more than 50 people attending, up 12.1 percent year-on-year. The total number of participants from home and abroad to Xiamen reached 1.88 million, with a year-on-year increase of 12.1 percent. The total revenue of the exhibition industry in Xiamen reached 40.3 billion yuan ($5.86 billion).

Such exhibitions as the China International Fair for Investment & Trade, the Xiamen International Stone Fair and the Xiamen International Buddhist Items & Crafts Fair are among the world's leading exhibitions in terms of scale.

Xiamen also successfully held some high-end meetings such as BRICS and Straits Forum.
