The 2015 Xiamen International Fashion Week will be held at the end of November. As part of the fashion week, the 2015 Chinese Garment Design Contest has kicked off in Beijing.

This is the Third Chinese Garment Design Contest, receiving 350 contributions from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau, as well as Italy and America. All participants are required to provide a set of five designs following the theme, “Silk Egret.” Thirty works will enter the final, which will be held during the 2015 Xiamen International Fashion Week on November 28th.

Co-held by the China Fashion Association and Xiamen's Siming District Government, the contest is open to Chinese designers around the world. Taking advantage of Xiamen’s position as an important city on the 21st century maritime silk road, the competition is expected to boost the local fashion industry and promote the heritage and innovativeness of Chinese costume culture.

Xiamen is now home to many domestic fashion brands such as Septwolves, Ports, Jorya, Joeone, and over 50 international brands such as LV and Gucci. The city has formed an industry chain of garments, wedding dresses, and fashionable artworks.

The international influence of Xiamen local designers Ji Wenbo and Zeng fengfei--both winners of The Jinding Award, the highest award in domestic fashion--and newly emerging designers such as Shangguan Zhe and Wan Yifang also helped to get Xiamen’s fashion industry into the international spotlight.
