Promoting the e-commerce sector

There will be a two-day Global E-commerce Conference, on Sept 8 and 9, in the city of Xiamen, Fujian province, for discussing current e-commerce trends, organized by the China Electronic Commerce Association (CECA), the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and the Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Convention & Exhibition Affairs.

The annual conference is an integral part of the larger China International Fair for Investment & Trade, with which it has cooperated for 5 years and will consist of a main forum and two sub-forums, with more than 1,800 participants registered so far.

The main forum, whose theme is "co-financing, co-existing, and mutually beneficial E-commerce development methods under the new normal", will bring in representatives of e-commerce giants, such as Alibaba Group and Ebay, who will give their thoughts on the situation and development trends in China's e-commerce industry, especially cross-border.

A cross-border E-commerce committee under the CECA and the Internet consultant Analysys International will also announce their report on China's cross-border e-commerce development for 2015, at the forum.

The sub-forums cover investment opportunities for cross-border e-commerce and the transformation and improvement of traditional Chinese enterprises through China's Internet-Plus program and the help of e-commerce industry generally.

The Ministry of Commerce says that the commerce volume will be worth more than 18 trillion yuan ($2.8 trillion) in 2015 and that this shows the great potential in China's e-commerce, while the organizers of the event say that they hope more leading Chinese and foreign e-commerce companies and institutions will take part and see its potential for the globalization of e-commerce.
