Tourist satisfaction on the up in Xiamen

Xiamen ranked first on a tourist satisfaction report issued by the Fujian provincial tourism bureau for the second quarter of 2015.

In comparison to the first quarter, Xiamen lost more than two points on the survey, settling at a score of 78.10 points in the second quarter. Following Xiamen in the rankings was Sanming with 77.61 points and Zhangzhou with 76.82 points.

During the same period, Xiamen's quarterly ranking rose from 30th to 28th in a national survey in terms of tourist satisfaction. The survey was conducted by the China Tourism Academy and targeted 60 cities nationwide.

Amid the "new normal" economic situation in the country, many Chinese cities have shifted their focus toward the tourism industry to drive GDP growth.

Since the beginning of 2015, Xiamen and other cities in Fujian province explored favorable tourism policies to attract global travellers, as China pushed ahead with the One Belt One Road Initiative.

In the second quarter 2015, Fujian recorded its highest satisfaction rate among inbound visitors, with a rate of 77.73 points.
