ABB companies on Xiamen Island to be relocated to Xiang’an in 5 years
The relocation project of ABB Group for its 7 companies on Xiamen Island is expected to be completed in five years and will be divided into three phases.
The first phase is expected to be put into trial operation in March 2017 with investment of 1.38 billion yuan, followed by the second phase in December 2018 and the third phase in May 2019.
ABB Group, a multinational corporation headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, will finally settle down in the Xiamen (Xiang'an) Torch Industrial Park.
The project will integrate and optimize the resources of its 7 companies from Xiamen Island, and improve the production capacity of ABB Group’s operations in Xiamen.
The Zurich-based ABB Group is a global leader in power and automation technologies. It employs 150,000 people and operates in approximately 100 countries. The group owns 7 companies in Xiamen, including the ABB (China) Ltd. Xiamen Branch, ABB Xiamen Switchgear Co., Ltd., ABB Xiamen Electrical Controlgear Co., Ltd., ABB Xiamen Low Voltage Equipment Co., Ltd., ABB High Voltage Switchgear (Xiamen) Co., Ltd., ABB Transmission and Distribution Automation Equipment (Xiamen) Co., Ltd., and ABB Genway Xiamen Electrical Equipment Co., Ltd.
The relocation project of the ABB Group is part and parcel of Xiamen’s “deindustrialization initiative”, which aims to encourage more industrial companies on Xiamen Island to move to the city’s outlying districts.
