Xiamen among top 3 popular tourist destinations for May Day holiday

China’s official May Day holiday will last three days, from May 1st to 3rd, this year, and Xiamen is among the top 3 popular tourist destinations for the upcoming May Day holiday, according to data released by Ctrip.com, China’s leading travel service provider.

Short-distance travel and self-driving travel are still the most popular travel options, the data showed.

Neighboring tourist destinations, including Wuyishan, Yongding Tulou and scenic spots along the Xiamen-Shenzhen High-speed Railway are among the top choices for Xiamen residents for the upcoming holiday.

Meanwhile, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Thailand are the most favored outbound destinations for residents in Xiamen.

A toll-free road policy will be launched for the upcoming May Day holiday from May 1st to 3rd, which will allow passenger cars with seven seats or less to travel for free on toll roads during the holiday period.
