Xiamen's Blue Sky Rescue team leaves for Nepal

The first of Xiamen 's Blue Sky Rescue team, consisting of 16 male rescuers, 1 female rescuer and 4 female medical workers are expected to be arrive in Kathmandu,on April 28.

As one of China's largest civilian rescue teams, the Blue Sky has participated in many search and rescue actions domestically and abroad, including the magnitude-8.0 Wenchuan earthquack which caused tremendous damage in China's Sichuan province in 2008.

The team is equipped with the cutting edge Beidou Navigation Satellite System which enable the members to send back information through satellites.

The death toll of the massive 7.9-magnitude earthquake which shook Nepal on April 26 reached 4310, with 7953 injured and 70 to 90percent of buildings and houses damaged.
