Residents in Xiamen can now enjoy happy online shopping and say goodbye to annoying slow delivery of their goods after the weeklong Spring Festival slowdown.

Starting from February 25th, the first working day after the weeklong Spring Festival, many delivery companies in Xiamen stopped their “Spring Festival delivery pattern”. Most of them started normal operations of delivery service and canceled their additional 10 yuan Spring Festival service fees.

Many residents complained of slow delivery and high prices during the Spring Festival holiday. Mr. Shu said he ordered delivery of two boxes of specialty gifts to his father-in-law from Xiamen to Ningde, which cost him 203 yuan and it took the delivery company 8 days to complete the delivery.

S.F. Express, a big name in the delivery industry, said most of its services are now back to normal, and its delivery-on-the-day service will be operational after March 9th. Meantime, the company has cancelled its additional charge of 10 yuan per item during the Spring Festival holiday.

Insiders predicted the delivery service in Xiamen will go back to normal after March 5th, which is the day of Lantern Festival and also the last day of Chinese New Year celebrations.
