The Xiamen Municipal Bureau of Commerce announced on its official website on July 11 that it will take five measures to upgrade the convention and exhibition industry.

First, the existing branded convention and exhibition projects will be expanded. The stone fair, investment and trade fair and Buddhist fair will be forged into world-class ultra-large fairs; China Xiamen Machinery and Electronics Exhibition (CXMEE), yacht exhibition, auto expo, culture expo and tea expo, will be forged into leading-edge large exhibitions; exhibitions in the theme of "both sides of the Taiwan Straits" and the marketization of conventions and exhibitions with government support will be aggressively promoted.

Second, key professional exhibitions will be planned. Industrial resources in Fujian province and Xiamen will be integrated for a supply of key professional exhibitions in the theme of key industries in Fujian province and Xiamen's "5+3" modern industrial system.

Third, branded convention and exhibition projects at home and abroad will be introduced. By seizing the opportunity for a transfer of the world's exposition industry, well-known exhibition organizers and large branded exhibition projects at home and abroad will be positively introduced; large and medium-sized high-end business conferences, purchasing meetings and fairs will be vigorously fostered and introduced.

Fourth, the exhibition & trading center and staple commodity distributing center will take shape. We will make use of the pattern of Fujian province, where traditional and competitive industries are manufactured in peripheral cities, while sales and services are made in Xiamen, as well as the convergence of logistics, people flow, information flow and capital flow from key professional exhibitions, thus promoting the construction of regional product exhibition & trading center and staple commodity distributing center.

Fifth, an R&D design center and original quality standard place will be forged. We shall foster mature world-class professional exhibitions and international high-end conferences for the convergence of authoritative organs and high-end R&D resources and the cluster of talent for R&D design and standard formulation, in order to promote Xiamen as the R&D design center and policy-maker of quality standards.
