CCTF, Chinese Estates Holdings convenes donation ceremony for Spring Bud girls in Liangshan
Hong Kong-based Chinese Estates Holdings Limited on July 21 in Beijing makes a donation of 18 million yuan (US$ 2.48 million) to a public welfare project promoting the education of disadvantaged girls in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan province, under the Spring Bud project .
The China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and Hong Kong-based Chinese Estates Holdings Limited jointly held a donation ceremony in Beijing on July 21 for a public welfare project on promoting the education of disadvantaged girls in Liangshan Yi autonomous prefecture, Southwest China's Sichuan province, under the Spring Bud project .

The event was attended by Chen Xiurong, former vice-president and member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), and president of the CCTF; Zhang Yanhong, secretary-general of the CCTF; Chan Hoi-wan, chief executive officer of Chinese Estates Holdings; Judy Chen, honorary president of the Hua Jing Society and chairperson of the Hong Kong Committee for the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF HK); and youth representatives from the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
In her speech, Chen Xiurong conveyed thanks to Chan Hoi-wan and Judy Chen for their long-time participation in charitable and public welfare affairs, the kickoff of a public welfare initiative titled "a Journey of Tracing Love," and the organization of other family members to carry forward ultimate love. She instructed the CCTF to further strengthen its cooperation with Chinese Estates Holdings and expand the common ground as well as the convergence of interests in terms of the pursuit of love between the mainland and Hong Kong, and called on those present at the event to share with their families and peers about what they have seen and discovered in the mainland journey, promote the development and common prosperity of the mainland and Hong Kong, and make contributions to achieving the goal of national rejuvenation.
Chan Hoi-wan said that she was very satisfied with the implementation of the public welfare project on promoting the education of disadvantaged girls in Liangshan. She added that she was deeply impressed with the big smile and the pursuit of self-reliance, beauty, goodness for the society demonstrated by beneficiary girls in Liangshan. She emphasized that the corporation will bolster its cooperation with the CCTF on delivering love and warmth to more needy individuals.
Judy Chen said that the public welfare tour gave her an opportunity to engage in face-to-face interactions with Spring Bud girls in Liangshan, appreciate glorious achievements made by the autonomous prefecture in poverty alleviation and the deep affection exhibited by local people toward Chinese President Xi Jinping, also general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), and witness remarkable development of the country. She added that she is willing to expand the depth and width of her cooperation with the CCTF, build a bridge for the exchanges between children from the mainland and Hong Kong, and foster strong orientation amongst teenagers in Hong Kong toward the motherland.

At the ceremony, Chen Xiurong represented the CCTF to accept a donation of 18 million yuan (US$ 2.48 million) from Chinese Estates Holdings and presented a donation certificate to Chan Hoi-wan and memorial statues of the Spring Bud project to youth representatives from Hong Kong.
Zhang sent to Chan Hoi-wan and Judy Chen a set of publications about the visit made by President Xi to ordinary families.
Since its inauguration in August 2022, the public welfare project on promoting the education of disadvantaged girls in Liangshan has distributed financial assistance to 1,000 girls from impoverished families, provided them with nutritional improvement packages, built three special activity centers and launched a series of assistance actions toward them.
