The China Children and Teenagers' Fund(CCTF) and Tencent initiate a project with an emphasis on the improvement of the Spring Bud girls' literacy in technology and music.[CCTF]

The China Children and Teenagers' Fund (CCTF) and Tencent launched a new public welfare project in Beijing on July 26, 2021.

As part of the Spring Bud Project—Dream of the Future Action, the project aims to improve girls' literacy in technology and music.

At the launching ceremony, the Tencent Foundation donated 5 million yuan ($787,513) to the CCTF, hoping to provide Spring Bud girls with access to hardware and software connected to technology and music, help them realize long-term development in the field of technology, form a high-standard Spring Bud Chorus, and create a new image of the Spring Bud Project featuring innovative development.

Zhao Wen, a member of the Secretariat of the All-China Women's Federation (ACWF), said the new project would help Spring Bud girls acquire more technical skills, raise their aesthetic and humanistic literacy, stimulate their enthusiasm for innovation, and make them become active participants in the realization of national rejuvenation.

"Many impoverished girls have no access to digital education resources, which hinders the improvement of their comprehensive qualities and vocational development," said Chen Juhong, vice-president of Tencent. 

She stressed that the Tencent Foundation would fully utilize its strength to promote public participation in the project and would work together with the CCTF to help Spring Bud girls further improve literacy in technology and music and to create a sound social environment for their healthy, safe and all-around growth.

During the ceremony, the CCTF and Tencent signed an agreement on specific matters in the implementation of the project.

According to the agreement, the Tencent Youth Science and Technology Learning Center is expected to open classes on sci-tech general knowledge and Internet-driven innovation, provide Spring Bud girls with opportunities to take part in training activities, and arrange for its employees, as well as other charitable individuals, to support girls in comprehensive development.

The Tencent Music Entertainment will work in collaboration with the CCTF to open music classes and organize performance activities for Spring Bud girls in a move to foster their interest and talent in music, broaden their artistic horizons and strengthen their confidence in seeking for gender equality and a better life.
