Summary

Crimes involving sexual assault against minors shall be severely punished in accordance with the law. Where an offender engages in online sexual molestation and subsequently coerces a minor victim into sexual intercourse by threatening to disseminate private photos or videos, such conduct constitutes two distinct criminal acts, which shall be recognized respectively as the crime of sexual molestation of children and the crime of rape. In handling these cases, if private photos or videos of minor victims are found circulating on the internet, the people's procuratorates shall promptly coordinate with the relevant authorities to remove the materials and block further dissemination. The people's procuratorates must proactively exercise their legal supervision functions and actively promote coordinated efforts among all relevant parties to strengthen the protection of minors online.
