On Dec 10, the All-China Women's Federation, together with the Women Workers' Committee of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, the China Association of Women Judges, the China Women Procurators Association, and the Women Lawyers Association of the All-China Lawyers Association, jointly released a new batch of 10 typical cases on the legal protection of women's and children's rights and interests in Beijing.

Two cases submitted by the China Women Procurators Association under the guidance of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) were among them, demonstrating the proactive efforts of procuratorial organs in safeguarding the rights and interests of women and children. The two cases include one on child trafficking prosecuted by procuratorates in Guizhou province and one on comprehensive judicial protection concerning the rectification of online rental apartments illegally accommodating minors handled by the Suqian Municipal People's Procuratorate in Jiangsu province.

The former emphasizes collaboration between procuratorates and public security organs in prosecuting child trafficking crimes in accordance with the law, underscoring judicial authorities' "zero-tolerance" stance toward crimes against minors and their commitment to handling each case with high quality and efficiency.

The latter focuses on regulatory loopholes in emerging business models. Through handling cases involving harm to minors, procuratorial organs fully exercised their supervisory functions and promoted the regulation of the online apartment rental industry and the enhancement of local legislation.

In addition to these two SPP-guided cases, several other cases selected this year reflect procuratorates' well-rounded work across the four major procuratorial functions — criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation. They highlight procuratorates' active role in building a coordinated social protection network and delivering tangible outcomes in safeguarding women's and children's rights through the rule of law.

Launched in 2015, the "10 Typical Cases on Legal Protection of Women's and Children's Rights and Interests" selection event has evolved over the past six consecutive editions into a significant platform for showcasing China's achievements in promoting the rule of law and rights protection.

The procuratorate-related cases selected this year not only illustrate their advancements in protecting the rights and interests of women and children, but also reflect an enhanced approach to performing their duties — from handling individual cases to supervising similar ones and promoting high-quality, efficient case handling. These cases offer valuable reference for future judicial practice and social governance in related fields.
