The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) has recently released six typical public interest litigation cases focusing on the protection of minors.

All of the released cases fall under the category of administrative public interest litigation and demonstrate five key characteristics.

In terms of protection scope, they involve protection of minors' rights in all respects, ranging from the right to survival and protection to the right to development and participation.

Regarding duty performance of procuratorates, they further promote a shift towards comprehensive duty performance in procuratorial work involving minors, forming a working pattern where criminal, civil, administrative, and public interest litigation procuratorial work pools efforts in a coordinated manner.

As for the case-handling approach, they emphasize both precision and standardization as well as improvement of quality and efficiency, and promote substantive solutions through mechanisms such as prioritizing loss prevention and collaboration between procuratorates and government departments.

In the application of technology, procuratorates handling the cases have given full play to digital procuratorial practices, and used big data models to identify clues and evaluate results.

In terms of regional distribution, the cases are well-balanced, with examples from eastern, central, and western regions selected to guide and promote more equitable development of public interest litigation for minors.

According to the head of the SPP's Minors Procuratorial Department, this batch of cases, issued alongside the Guidelines for People's Procuratorates in Handling Public Interest Litigation Cases on Protection of Minors, serves as a practical example for procuratorates across the country to handle similar cases. The release aims to form more replicable and promotable experiences and working methods in public interest litigation for protection of minors, highlighting the achievements of procuratorial organs in the protection of minors through continuous performance of their duties.

In the future, procuratorates will continue to step up efforts in public interest litigation for protection of minors. By focusing on pressing issues affecting minors' well-being, they aim to handle more pioneering and exemplary cases, providing stronger judicial protection for the healthy growth of minors, the official said.
