Third Belt and Road Procuratorial Forum held in Xi'an

The third Belt and Road Prouratorial Forum (Shaanxi) was held in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, on Sept 29.

Miao Shengming, Deputy Prosecutor General of the Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP), Liu Qiang, a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Shaanxi Provincial Committee and Secretary of the Political and Legal Commission of the CPC Shaanxi Provincial Committee, and Lu Jianjun, Secretary of the CPC Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Committee, addressed the opening ceremony. Wang Xuguang, Chief Prosecutor of the Shaanxi Provincial People's Procuratorate, presided over the ceremony.

Miao noted that since its establishment, the SPP's Belt and Road Procuratorial Research Base has played a positive role in advancing research on procuratorial theories and practices, cultivating foreign-related legal professionals, and promoting international judicial exchange and cooperation. He said the base has provided high-quality and efficient legal support for promoting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

He urged procuratorial organs to focus on their primary responsibilities, prioritize rule formulation, actively explore innovations in procuratorial practices, and handle every case with high quality and efficiency, thereby fulfilling their duty to provide legal safeguards for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Miao also called for strengthening the development of the base, fully leveraging the role of the forum as a platform for deepening collaboration and exchanges and improving talent cultivation, and continuously reinforcing the procuratorial foundation to ensure legal safeguards for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

Liu highlighted recent efforts by the political and legal system of Shaanxi in providing high-quality services, strengthening safeguards and optimizing the business environment, thus fostering the province's high-quality development and high-level opening-up through high-level rule of law.

Liu added that procuratorial organs across Shaanxi have fully performed their functions in providing services and safeguards and made new strides in supporting high-quality Belt and Road cooperation through effective performance of their duties. He called for taking this forum as an opportunity to make greater contributions to advancing high-level opening-up and high-quality Belt and Road cooperation.

The forum was co-hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial People's Procuratorate, XJTU, and The Chinese Procurators magazine, and jointly organized by XJTU's School of Law, the Xi'an Municipal People's Procuratorate, and the Research Center for Procuratorial Public Interest Litigation at Northwest University of Political Science and Law. During the forum, the establishment of the Academic Committee of the SPP's Belt and Road Procuratorial Research Base was announced, along with the appointment of 15 specially invited researchers.
