IP forum highlights high-value patent operation

The sub-forum of the 21st Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum, focusing on high-value patent operation and the development of new quality productive forces, took place on Dec 6.

Lu Pengqi, deputy commissioner of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, underscored the vital role of IP in safeguarding and encouraging innovation, as well as in supporting new quality productive forces. He advocated for a robust IP operation and service system, stronger international cooperation, and a global layout of high-value patents.

Chen Qun, vice-chairman of the CPPCC Shanghai Committee, praised Shanghai's advancements in optimizing its IP system and integrating IP with industry through patent transformation and utilization initiatives. He emphasized the need to support enterprises in enhancing IP management and promoting green development.

Chen Huawen, head of Shanghai's Minhang district, detailed Minhang's efforts to bolster IP creation, utilization, and protection, with a focus on key sectors such as information technology, biomedicine, and high-end manufacturing.

The forum also featured the award ceremony for the Yangtze River Delta High-Value Patent Operation Competition and saw the release of the "Shanghai Key Industry Patent Pool", which promotes national key industry technology transformation and encourages collaborative innovation. Additionally, the establishment of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Exchange Center Gansu Workstation was announced to facilitate cross-regional technology transfer.
