Shanghai adds two new trademark, brand bases
East China's Shanghai recently inaugurated two additional city-level trademark and brand innovation and entrepreneurship bases – special centers launched to promote regional brand building.
The new additions are located at the Lester School and Henry Lester Institute of Technical Education and at the Jinqiao Economic and Technological Development Zone.
They've increased the city's total to an impressive 15 bases dedicated to trademark and brand innovation.
The expansion is said to be part of a broader initiative to provide comprehensive professional services to businesses and entrepreneurs.
With the inclusion of 88 trademark and brand guidance stations across the city's industrial parks, industrial associations and business circles, Shanghai is actively broadening its support network for trademark and brand activities.
In recent years, the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration has been instrumental in enhancing the trademark and brand ecosystem. It's done this by establishing a public service platform, reinforcing corporate brand systems and improving service levels within industrial parks.
In recognition of these efforts, a special section called "Shanghai's innovative trademark and brand work" was featured in the Annual Report on China's Intellectual Property Operations (2022).
What's more, several trademarks, brands and guidance stations in the city were selected for the China National Intellectual Property Administration's campaign to elevate and brand values.
In 2023, Shanghai witnessed an impressive surge in patent trademark pledge financing, with 1,370 cases registered, amounting to 22.76 billion yuan (3.15 billion) – an increase of 164 percent in cases and 87.3 percent in value.
During the same period, the uptake of patent trademark insurance has also grown, with 860 policies covering an insured sum of 260 million yuan.
