WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service marks milestone
The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service recently reportedly that it has handled 100 mediation cases since its establishment in 2019.
The Shanghai Service – located in the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone – is the first foreign arbitral institution in China for foreign-related intellectual property or IP disputes.
Among the 100 cases, 90 have been concluded, with an overall settlement rate of nearly 36 percent.
The cases involved various types of IP – such as trademarks, patents, copyrights, unfair competition and technical services contracts.
The parties in the cases came from 15 countries, including the United States, Japan, Finland and Switzerland.
