Shanghai hosts forum on IP operations, digital economy
A sub-forum of the 20th Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum and the 2023 International IP Operation Forum on SINOIP was held in East China's Shanghai on Dec 11.
Among the dignitaries attending and giving speeches were Chen Qun, standing committee member of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference; Rui Wenbiao, director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, or SIPA and Jiang Ge, vice-principal of Shanghai University of Science and Technology.
They stressed the importance of intellectual property, or IP, as a strategic resource, a core element, a basic guarantee and as an important bridge – for promoting innovation, competitiveness, cooperation and high-quality development in the digital economy.
They also called for a strengthening of the IP policy system, its structure and its resources. Moreover, they advocated enhancing the cross-border operations and flow of intellectual property rights, as well as boosting the digital transformation and industrial upgrading of the city.
At the opening ceremony, the awards ceremony for the Yangtze River Delta High-Value Patent Operation Competition was also held. Six units won gold, silver and bronze awards, while four won individual awards.
The forum was hosted by SIPA and jointly organized by the National Platform (Shanghai) for International Intellectual Property Operation Services – or SINOIP – as well as the Shanghai Intellectual Property Exchange Center and the South-South Global Assets and Technology Exchange.
The sub-forum has now been held for five consecutive years, serving as an important platform for SINOIP to support the construction of Shanghai's science and innovation center and facilitate international IP operations.
