Shanghai vice-mayor visits WIPO headquarters

Shanghai Vice-Mayor Xie Dong led a delegation to visit the World Intellectual Property Organization headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland on July 4.
During the meeting, Xie held talks with WIPO Director General Daren Tang.
Xie thanked Tang for inviting her to the WIPO and reviewed the cooperation between Shanghai and the organization. She also updated the WIPO on Shanghai's latest achievements in IP.
Xie said that Shanghai's IP achievements can be attributed to WIPO's long-term support. She said that under the guidance of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, Shanghai would actively engage in global IP governance within the WIPO framework.
Xie also expressed her hope that WIPO would continue to support IP development in Shanghai and work with it to boost the influence of the Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum, the construction of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service, as well as the development of the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property.
Daren Tang then briefed Xie on the 64th WIPO Assemblies. He thanked China for its support and the Shanghai authorities for their efforts in advancing the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service. He said that WIPO would further enhance its cooperation with Shanghai.
The meeting was also attended by Wang Binying, WIPO deputy general director, Ignacio de Castro, director of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center, and Liu Hua, director of the WIPO Office in China.
