Shanghai enhances IP protection, service to boost biz environment

Shanghai has made steady progress in intellectual property protection and development since 2022, local authorities said at a briefing on Shanghai's IP development on June 15.
Rui Wenbiao, director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, said at the briefing that Shanghai has been enhancing the quality of IP creation, the effectiveness of IP protection, the benefits of IP utilization, as well as IP management and service since 2022.
The city will continue to follow the highest international standards and best practices, strengthen legal guarantees, improve protection systems and public services and deepen international cooperation in the IP field, Rui added.
Huang Xiangqing, vice-president of the Shanghai High People's Court, said that Shanghai courts will further promote the modernization of the IP trial system, focus on the judicial protection needs of Shanghai's development, and create a vibrant innovation ecology.
The meeting was attended by more than 120 people, including representatives from 36 consulates of 27 countries, various chambers of commerce, foreign-invested associations, foreign-invested enterprises, universities and others.
