A group of students from Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, or SICIP, of Tongji University, visited Shanghai Watch Co Ltd on April 17.

The visit was aimed at enhancing the students' understanding of intellectual property, or IP, and the brand culture of a local enterprise in Shanghai.

The students toured the enterprise including its assembly line. They learned about the development history, brand culture and product features of Shanghai Watch, a brand independently produced after the founding of New China in 1949.

The students also had an in-depth exchange with the IP department of the enterprise on topics such as IP culture, trademark management and patent appearance design.

Sanchez Cobas Julianna from Cuba said, "The trip was very interesting. I think the university should continue to do this kind of activity; it is very interesting and for foreign students it is a very pleasant experience."

Bozkurt Merve Sena from Turkey said, "It was wonderful. I was able to observe China's past and the birth of a brand. I am happy to choose IP law (as my major), since I can support people who want to establish a brand."

It is understood that SICIP will carry out more similar activities in the future, combining practice with theory and fully demonstrating its international characteristics and interdisciplinary advantages. It will innovate its teaching mode and cultivate high-end international IP talents.
