2022 WIPO Global Service Workshop held in Shanghai

The 2022 World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Global Service Workshop – which was held in Shanghai in East China on Dec 21 – was organized by the WIPO Office in China and the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration.

Lv Guoqiang, senior advisor of the WIPO Office in China, said at the event that in-depth understanding and a proper use of the WIPO service system was important for companies. This was in order for them to use intellectual property, or IP, as a path and tool for innovation and entrepreneurship, economic growth and sustainable development.

He added that the WIPO Office in China was committed to promoting cooperation between WIPO and various IP stakeholders, to help Shanghai become an international IP hub city.

During the workshop, Lv introduced the concept, content and features of the WIPO Alternative Dispute Resolution, or ADR service system. He also talked about the services provided by the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service – also known as the WIPO Shanghai Service.

Experts from the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court, the Shanghai Pudong New Area Court, the Shanghai Patent and Trademark Law Office and automobile brand Nio gave lectures.

These were on WIPO alternative disputes resolutions and the Hague System for the International Registration of Industrial Designs. The experts also exchanged ideas with the audience.

The workshop was also held online. Altogether, the event attracted more than 700 participants from enterprises, IP service institutions, research institutions and universities.
