A ceremony was held on Dec 8 in East China Normal University – located in East China's Shanghai city – in a bid to set up 10 intellectual property rights or IPR operation centers in local universities.
Huang Yongping, Shanghai municipal government deputy secretary-general, told the ceremony that the universities in Shanghai were the key force behind building the city up as a strong IPR hub.
Huang said they shouldered the mission of strengthening basic research and core technology research, as well as the vital task of promoting the commercialization of innovative achievements and realizing the value of IPR.
Huang hoped that the colleges and universities would take this opportunity to integrate the development of IPR operations centers into their research and development and take the needs of enterprises as well as the IPR operations system of the city into account.
This would help solve the problems of matching supply and demand for patents commercialization.
East China Normal University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai University made speeches on behalf of the 10 universities.
