The Putuo district of Shanghai city in East China launched a patents supermarket in its China-Israel Innovation Park on Aug 22.
A patents supermarket uses patents as commodities – publishing patent licenses and it transfers data and information created in universities, institutions and enterprises. It also provides a rapid, convenient and efficient platform for information releases and matches supply to demand.
The Putuo facility is expected to activate the dormant patents of universities, institutions and enterprises, helping them to commercialize their findings and discoveries. At the same time, it will promote the overall patents licensing pilot work in Shanghai.
With the patents supermarket operating in the China-Israel Innovation Park, the expectation is that Putuo district will continue to expand and that it will also replicate the model to other industrial parks, as well as administrative service centers and other places in the district.
