Gan Shaoning, deputy head of the China National Intellectual Property Administration, or CNIPA, on Nov 5 led a delegation on a visit to the World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Shanghai Service – also known as the WIPO Shanghai Service.

During talks Gan lauded the achievements of the WIPO Shanghai Service – based in East China's Shanghai city – since its establishment there in 2019.

He indicated that CNIPA would continue to give its full support to the WIPO Shanghai Service and urged it to make full use of the geographical advantages of the city, so as to better expedite arbitration and mediation in resolving international intellectual property disputes in a range of ways. 

Lv Guoqiang, senior counselor of the WIPO Office in China, on behalf of the WIPO Shanghai Service, gave a briefing on the service's development since its inception.

The World Intellectual Property Organization Arbitration and Mediation Center is a neutral, international and non-profit dispute resolution institution, which is known to effectively provide a variety of cost-effective alternative dispute resolution services.

The WIPO Shanghai Service, established in Shanghai Free Trade Zone two years ago, conducts arbitration and mediation of foreign-related IP dispute cases in China.
