Shanghai holds workshop on IP rights, competition in digital economy era

The Third Tongji Workshop on China-EU Innovation and Competition was held on Oct 22 at Tongji University in Shanghai city in East China, with this year's theme of "intellectual property rights and competition in the era of the digital economy".

Yu Chen, deputy director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, or SIPA, addressed the workshop – declaring that the digital economy was an economy of innovation, but also an economy of knowledge.

During the workshop, participants shared their views on regional cooperation in intellectual property and the practice of IP protection in the era of the digital economy, as well as on the digital market and competition through online and offline forms. 

In addition, researchers from the Research Center of China-EU Innovation Policy and Law at Tongji University, LMU Munich, Tongji University and others shared their latest research results. 

As an important part of this year's Shanghai International Intellectual Property Forum which took place in Shanghai on Oct 19-22, the workshop was organized by SIPA.

Assisting the SIPA was the Shanghai International College of Intellectual Property, the Research Center of China-EU Innovation Policy and Law at Tongji University, the Intellectual Property Law Research Association of the Shanghai Law Society and the LMU Munich Faculty of Law.
