The 2021 WIPO-China Summer School on Intellectual Property opened on Sept 13 at the East China University of Political Science and Law in Shanghai city.

Ye Qing, principal of the university, told the opening ceremony in a speech that during the two-week summer school, the university had organized more than 30 course topics.

Additionally, it had arranged experts and academics from universities, courts, law firms, government departments and other fields from home and abroad to give lectures.

Liu Hua, director of the World Intellectual Property Organization Office in China, told the opening ceremony through a video link that WIPO would work with the country to build a more balanced and dynamic IP ecosystem and provide more resources for students and young academics.

Yu Chen, the deputy director general of the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration, also participated in the proceedings.

He said the summer school was an important result of close cooperation between Shanghai and WIPO in various fields – adding that it was vital that Shanghai continued to work with WIPO to expand cooperation in international education and to promote talent exchanges.
