A national training course on intellectual property (IP) education for primary and secondary schools concluded in Shanghai on Dec 24, according to the organizers.

The two-day course was sponsored by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) and organized by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration (SIPA).

CNIPA has been working with the Ministry of Education since 2015 and the two sides have jointly carried out identification and cultivation of pilot demonstration schools for IP education in primary and secondary schools nationwide, CNIPA officials said.

They said that moving forwards, CNIPA will continue to promote the work of IP education in primary and secondary schools and raise the awareness of everybody for the need to respect and protect IP.

Zhang Yongzhong, deputy director of SIPA, pointed out that Shanghai has continued to strengthen its IP education in primary and secondary schools in recent years. It has established 30 municipal demonstration schools for IP education, eight of which have been granted a national title.

During the course IP education experts gave lectures on topics, including "IP Basic Education: Common Proposition in the New Era", "IP in Middle School Classrooms" and "Exploration and Practice of Innovative Education based on IP in secondary vocational schools".
