IP protection highlighted at China-Israel Business Summit

The 2020 China-Israel Business Summit: Shanghai Spotlight was held in the China-Israel Innovation Hub (Shanghai) on Dec 16.

As the largest annual event focusing on business cooperation between China and Israel, it has been held seven times and this year was the first time it was held in China.

Officials said the new Shanghai Trademark Brand Innovation and Entrepreneurship (China-Israel Innovation Hub (Shanghai)) Base and the China (Shanghai) Intellectual Property Rights Protection Assistance Center (China-Israel Innovation Hub (Shanghai)) Workstation were unveiled during the event.

Rui Wenbiao, the director general of Shanghai intellectual Property Administration, or SIPA, attended the event and delivered a keynote speech.

He said that SIPA will explore new mechanisms and models for protecting intellectual property rights to assist trademark brand development, providing better support for China-Israel cooperative enterprises, institutions and projects.

According to preliminary statistics, the bilateral trade volume between China and Israel has exceeded $15 billion to date. The opening of the China-Israel Innovation Hub (Shanghai) has attracted a number of Israeli universities, scientific research institutions and enterprises to come to Shanghai.
