Chenshan Botanical Garden invites visitors to enjoy Kochia in autumn

The Chenshan Botanical Garden in Shanghai is inviting visitors to enjoy the beauty of Kochia scoparia grass, a fluffy plant that turns red in autumn.

The garden has planted about 3,200 square meters of the grass, which is also known as fireweed or burning bush. The plant is native to Eurasia and has been widely cultivated as an ornamental plant, a forage crop and a medicinal herb.

According to the garden staff, some Kochia have remained green, creating a beautiful contrast with those that have turned bright red. This colorful sight has luring many photographers and nature lovers to the garden in recent weeks.

The best time to view Kochia is from mid-October to early November.

Chenshan Botanical Garden is one of the largest botanical gardens in China and covers an area of about 207 hectares. It has more than 14,000 species of plants, including rare and endangered ones. The garden is open to the public all year round.
