Gazania rigens, sometimes called treasure flower, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asteraceae, native to southern Africa. It is a spreading, low-growing, half-hardy perennial, growing to 50 cm tall and wide, with blue-grey foliage and brilliant yellow, daisy-like composite ray flowerheads and contrasting center disks. Narrow but variably-shaped, dandelion-like leaves (narrow spoon-shaped to lobed) are silvery green. Ray flowers of this species are orange with black eyes at the base and with orange-brown disks. Hybrid cultivars come in a great variety of additional colors including shades of yellow, orange, bronze or white often with contrasting colors at the bases forming a ring around the center disk. Dorotheanthus bellidiformis, a bright, ground-hugging little annual and commonly called Livingstone daisy, is a species of flowering plant in the family Aizoaceae that is native to the Cape Peninsula in South Africa. The flowering species is a very attractive succulent annual with shiny colorful flowers that are usually formed into patches of brilliant, almost iridescent colors of white, yellow, cream, pink, and crimson in spring.
