No. 6 Haitanggao, a pie or pastry made with Chinese flowering crabapple filling

Haitanggao, or Chinese flowering crabapple pastry, has induced mouth-watering among visitors for generations. The pie came into existence during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911 AD), and received its name due to its similarity to the shape of the flower.

Tourist may visit the Miaoqian Street in Songhui Mid Road of Songjiang district to enjoy this strikingly beautiful delicacy.

The famous specialty of the waterside regions in Yangtze River area, takes on a garnet red color once completely baked. The pastry’s fillings may contain sweetened bean paste, meat, sunflower seeds, and sugar. It has earned its reputation and popularity for its softness outside and sweetness inside.
