SHAO closed every Monday until Jan 23, 2017

Shanghai Astronomical Observatory (SHAO) has adjusted its hours of operation for facility maintenance and staff training.

Every Monday, until January 23, 2017, the observatory will be closed. The opening hours throughout winter will remain 8:30 am to 16:30 (no admission after 16:00).

Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, located atop West Sheshan Mountain, is one of the top five astronomical research centers in China. It is also China's only joint monitoring institution participating in international earth rotation and earth satellite tracking, applying high astrological technologies.

Public Transportation: Take Shanghai Metro Line 9 and get off at Sheshan Station or Dongjing Station. Then change to Songjiang Bus No 92, Huchen Line (沪陈线), Songchong Line (松重线), Songqing Line (松青线) or ShangShe Line (上佘线). Get off at West Sheshan Mountain Station.
