Shanghai Happy Valley launches 'red frenzy season'

Shanghai theme park Happy Valley has launched a "red frenzy season" to celebrate the approaching five holidays of Christmas, New Year's Day, Chinese Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and Valentines' Day.

The packed program of festive fun began on Dec 9, 2016 and will run to Feb 14, 2017. The park will be lit up by fabulous firework shows, as well as the 10,000 lanterns hung up around the park, while visitors will also be delighted by the 18-min large-scale multimedia water show "Lake of Illusions".

The part has also opened China's first interactive ocean-themed amusement center in time for the holiday season, which educates visitors about the oceans through a series of exciting 3-D movies and VR experiences.

With lots more fun planned, including parades, magic shows and candy gifts, children are sure to have a magical experience at the park.

Fans of the actor Lu Han can even send him their New Year wishes by posting a letter at the post box Happy Valley has installed at its wishing tree, and each well-wisher will be entered into a prize draw to receive a special surprise from the actor himself.

Happy Valley is also offering discounted entry till Jan 26, 2017. An adult ticket after 4 pm is just 60 yuan ($8.71) Monday to Thursday, or 80 yuan at the weekend.
