Vivid fields of pink muhly grass are in bloom and budding photographers should head down to Sheshan, in the Songjiang district of Shanghai, to snap one of autumn's finest sights.

The feathery grass has a striking resemblance to cotton candy and takes on its most lustrous color from September through to mid-November.

Originally native to North America, muhly grass was imported to China at some point during the last century and the perennial hedge-like plant can now be found widely across the country, particularly along roadsides and expansive grassland areas.

Shan Xingshou, the owner of this Sheshan flower garden, is one of many nationwide entrepreneurs producing the beautiful and adaptable plant. In recent years, Shan has rigorously grown muhly grass across his 60 mu (4 hectare) plot and in the future he intends to sell his stock to public parks and private individuals.
