Visitor numbers up at Sheshan during Spring Festival

The Shanghai Sheshan National Tourist Resort saw 61 percent growth in visitor numbers over this year's Spring Festival, welcoming 309,100 visitors from Feb 8 to 14, and yielding 19 million yuan ($3 million) in revenue.

The four scenic spots in the resort attracted 288,200 visitors during the holiday period, a 56 percent increase from last year.

From Feb 8 to 13 an international comedy show filled Shanghai Happy Valley with laughter as more than 20 world-famous circus performers delighted guests with their acrobatic street act every day. The amusement park received a total of 55,000 visitors, up 3.2 percent from the previous year.

Sheshan National Forest Park and Shanghai Moon Lake Sculpture Park attracted 163,000 and 5,000 visitors respectively during the holiday.

Five hotels in the tourist resort welcomed 20,900 guests in seven days, almost tripling last year's total with more than 60 percent room occupancy rate.
