Shanghai OCT Enterprise Company, the developer of Shanghai Happy Valley, is to invest 700 million yuan ($106 million) to construct the third phase of the park, covering 80,000 square meters as well as building three European style hotels in 2016.

The third phase of Shanghai Happy Valley, Shangri-La theme park, is to open in the summer of 2018 with four new areas, namely "Himalaya Snow Peak", "Snowman Area", "Adventure Area" and "Shangri-La Zoo & Botanical garden".

The park has also introduced a high-tech multimedia show with the world-famous visual effects company ECA2 from France, which will surely become the highlight of the park’s night activities in the future. The show, based on Chinese mythology, will make use of a water curtain, fountain, music, lasers and 3D imagery to offer visitors a feast of multimedia art.

In the east of the park, three European style hotels are under construction with a planning area of 117,000 square meters. The first is a 300 room budget hotel, featuring a Spanish style and will open at the beginning of 2018. The second and the third hotels will feature Scandinavian and German Black Forest styles.
