The 2016 Shanghai Songjiang Half Marathon with the theme "Journey of Discovery – River & City" will hear the starter's pistol at Happy Valley on Mar 20.

The marathon event is co-organized by the Chinese Athletics Association, Shanghai Sports Bureau and Shanghai Songjiang District government.
Runners will start from Happy Valley, via Chenshan Botanical Garden and an archeological relic, and arrive in Songjiang University Town to complete the 21 kilometer half marathon. The race will have 6,000 participants competing for prizes from 300 to 30,000 yuan.
There will be service stations every 2.5 kilometers along the road where participants can have a rest as well as learn a little about the history of Shanghai Songjiang District.

The organizers will also holding a shorter running event totaling 12 kilometers with 4,000 participants at the same time to promote a healthy lifestyle. Special awards will be given without considering ranks.
