An international germination resources lotus garden completed its initial construction in Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, Songjiang District, in May, 2014.

The garden, suggested by Tian Daike, a team leader from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Shanghai Chenshan Plant Science Research Center), is built for researchers to study, breed and exhibit lotus, from which information about the plant can be obtained to help accelerate the foundation of an international network and database of lotus.
