According to preliminary statistics, Shanghai Happy Valley received more than 30,000 tourists during the 2014 Dragon Boat Festival holiday – May 31 to June 2.

The three-day holiday in early June included two festivals - Children's Day and Dragon Boat festival. From May 31 to June 2, Shanghai Happy Valley launched a "free admission for children with adults" policy, which meant an adult with a full-price ticket could bring in a child below 1.5 meters for free, with the aim of encouraging families to enjoy the festival. It also featured themed performances: a ChinaJoy Cosplay contest, interactive games, 4D cinemas and more.

Among them, the 2014 "ChinaJoy Cosplay" contest final in the East China region attracted more than 1,000 anime fans to compete. After three days of exciting competitions, ultimately Zhoushan Anime Alliance scooped the top award and won a ticket to enter the national final. What is more, Huanhuan, Lele and Xiaogu – three Happy valley mascots – led a grand parade of cartoon characters.

According to the organizer, family tourists accounted for a large proportion of the total tourists which reflected the trend of rising family tours. Happy Valley will focus more on exploring the family tours market and bringing Happy Valley to everyone. It is reported that "Happy Ocean" (second phrase), a designed parent-child play area, will open this summer.
