CAS official inspects Sheshan Technology Park and Tianma telescope

On May 5, Li Ding, director of the Audit Bureau of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), visited Sheshan in Shanghai to inspect Sheshan Technology Park and the Tianma telescope.

Li Zhenghua, vice-party secretary of the Shanghai branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Shen Zhiqiang, vice-director of Shanghai's Astronomical Observatory, accompanied him.

Li Ding and Li Zhenghua firstly visited the Very Long Baseline Interferometry (VLBI) deep space exploration command center and listened to a report on how the Tianma telescope guided the soft landing of the Chang'e-3 lunar probe onto the moon on December 14 2013.

During the visit, Li Ding highly praised Shanghai Astronomical Observatory's contribution to astronomical research and deep space exploration.
