Horticultural contest of the 2nd Shanghai International Orchid Show ends in success

The horticultural contest and orchid evaluation event of the second "Lao Fengxiang" Shanghai International Orchid Show took place in the orchid hall of Chenshan Botanical Garden on March 28. Thirty-two spots, 60 orchid combinations and over 600 individual orchids were there to receive judgment and evaluation from 40 experts from 17 countries or regions.

The evaluation was divided into eight sections. There were altogether 263 awards, including 212 for individual orchids, 20 for combinations and 31 for spot arrangements.

The award ceremony started at 3 p.m. An American paphiopedilum won the general individual champion and the gold award for combinations went to Cai Yulin from Indonesia. The “Garden View” and the “Magical Forest” received the two gold awards for spot arrangements. Johan Hermans, Clare Hermens, deputy section chairs of ARHS (Associate of the Royal Horticultural Society) and Luo Yibo, Asian president of the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources' orchid panel were there to present the awards.

All the participating orchids and spot arrangements, including the awards winners are now on display.
