Chenshan Botanical Garden: Magnolias blooming in the spring

Now that the warm weather has lasted for a week, over 60 types of foreign magnolias are starting to bloom in the Chenshan Botanical Garden, indicating the coming of spring.

The magnolia is of the genus Magnoliaceae. They usually possess beautiful trees, a sweet fragrance and flowers of various colors such as purple, pink, yellow and white. This precious kind of tree has always been popular in gardens. Altogether 68 varieties of magnolia from other countries including the Netherlands, Japan, the U.S, Germany and France are now growing in the Chenshan Botanical Garden.

To date, 107 magnoliaceae have been collected in the Garden; 39 of them are root stock species and the other 68 are magnolias.
