Hosted by Shanghai Chenshan Botanical Garden, the 2nd Shanghai International Orchid Show will be inaugurated on March 29, attracting 32 teams of orchid experts from 17 countries and regions to participate.
The exhibition covers nearly 20,000 square meters, and many rare orchid species will soon be presented to the public for the first time.
The theme of the Orchid Show is "incredible orchids, taste of choice". During the show, orchid appreciation and accreditation workshops, an orchid photography contest, ikebana workshops, and orchid science popularization lectures will be hosted as well, where different ages of visitors will be able to participate and have fun in this major event.
To better prepare the 2nd Shanghai International Orchid Show, Chenshan Botanical Garden handed out a large number of questionnaires and analyzed the survey results, in order to fully understand the real needs of visitors. It carried out a comprehensive plan, covering aspects as diverse as dining, shopping, information center, tour guides, medical services and volunteer services.
Moreover, from this year, an electronic ticketing system and guide tours will be available for the first time at the show in a bid to facilitate visitors.
At present, the preparatory work is proceeding nicely. Four greenhouses have all been completed and the first orchid species arrived on March 17.
